IFAD’s multi-donor supported Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) is organizing a side event in occasion of the 12th CAADP Partnership Platform on “Financing African Agriculture and Implementation Support for accelerated Agriculture Growth and Transformation” held by AU/NEPAD in Accra, from 11 to 15 April 2016. The main objective of the Partnership Platform is to facilitate exchange and learning to advance and attract increased investments and financing for the agriculture sector on the African continent.

In this context, PARM has drafted a concept note for the side event together with NEPAD, FAO and other partners to capitalise and share lessons learned and knowledge, as follows:

- from risk assessment studies conducted in 3 countries: Uganda, Niger and Ethiopia;
- on how access to inclusive financing can contribute to manage agriculture and food insecurity risks in Africa;
- on how agricultural risk management tools can facilitate access to finance and investment.

In addition, the event aims at facilitating the knowledge exchange among other relevant practitioners to share their field experiences on the contribution of agriculture financing to the strengthening of risk management tools, policies and its implementation and vice versa.
