Alterfin is a social investor that, since 1994, raises capital in Belgium to invest it in developing countries via microfinance institutions (MFIs) and operators in the small holder agriculture value chains (POs). Alterfin is looking for an Africa Investment Manager to be based in Brussels, Belgium (full time), with frequent travels to Africa. This position involves responsibility for the development and management of loans to MFIs and POs in Africa, through the portfolio management of Alterfin and Fefisol, an investment fund established in July 2011 providing loans, equity and technical assistance to its partners.
Main job responsibilities will include:
* Contribute to the definition of the portfolio management strategy for the region
* Identify potential investments in line with Alterfin’s and Fefisol’s vision and investment policies
* Carry out the institutional and social due diligences of the identified MFIs and POs
* Present the investment proposals to the Credit Committees and follow loan disbursement process
* Develop technical assistance projects proposals to support Fefisol’s partners
* Monitor both the new investments generated and other investments already in Fefisol and Alterfin’s portfolio
Professional Profile:
* Degree in higher education in finance, economics, business management, agricultural economics or other relevant field
* Expertise in financial / organizational / strategic analysis of small to medium enterprises and, if possible, of MFIs and POs
* At least 5 years of relevant experience
* Field experience in a country in the South, particularly in Africa will be of added value
* Good spoken and written English and French
* Understanding of and commitment to development issues and social responsibility
