Update on the e-MFP Action Groups

8 Dec 2025

Latest news from our WASH, Gender Lens Investing and Green Finance Action Groups

e-MFP Action Groups (AGs) offer members an exciting opportunity to collaborate on targeted projects and shared areas of interest. They provide a unique cross-sector space where meaningful dialogue and cooperation can thrive. Through these groups, members drive new knowledge, exchange best practices, and learn from one another’s experiences in financial inclusion. By fostering these synergies, AGs strengthen the collective impact of e-MFP members—ultimately contributing to better financial and non-financial services for low-income communities in developing countries.

e-MFP & Aqua for All WASH Action Group

The WASH AG is advancing critical work to unlock finance for water, sanitation, and hygiene by building the evidence base needed to attract investment at scale. The session at the recent IF25 conference, entitled ‘Leveraging Data Insights to Scale WASH Investment: Findings from the Latest WASH AG Research Project’ (see MSC recording and presentation), presented the results of the Group’s latest research project, which is field-testing in four institutions a set of impact indicators designed to measure outcomes and strengthen accountability in WASH finance followed by a discussion with multiple stakeholder groups on how better measurement can drive confidence, align stakeholders, and open new opportunities for capital mobilisation. The next steps involve finalisation of the data collection phase, and a launch event in February to present project findings, the finalised impact indicator lost, operational manual for FSPs, and a survey tool. Together, these resources will support investors and their investees standardise and harmonise WASH impact data collection, embedding them in investment practice to scale this sector.

e-MFP Gender Lens Investing Action Group

The Gender Lens Investing (GLI) Action Group was created in July 2024 with the objectives of understanding how e-MFP members are working and advancing gender equity and social inclusion and how they integrate a gender lens analysis in their practices, Based on findings from various surveys and meetings, the AG has moved ahead with development of a user-filterable, curated and maintained GLI Resource Portal to be tested in Q1 2026 and launched in Q2. This work is being conducted with QLands as senior consultants and Jenny Morgan, and supported by a newly-constituted Advisory Committee of 7 AG members. The mapping and coding of resources is approaching completion, alongside design of the resource portal itself. Separate to this, the AG continues to invite blogs, case studies and other materials to be published, plus a series of webinars throughout the year.

If you’re interested in participating or contributing in any way to the portal or the work of the AG, contact Sam Mendelson (smendelson@e-mfp.eu) or Fernando Naranjo (fnaranjo@e-mfp.eu).
