4 Jul 2025

The meeting brought together members from across our community to reflect on recent achievements, approve statutory matters, and set the direction for the second half of 2025.

On 26th June 2025, e-MFP held its General Meeting of Members (GMM) online—earlier in the year than usual due to changes in Luxembourg legislation governing ASBLs. The meeting chaired by Lucia Spaggiari, brought together members from across our community to reflect on recent achievements, approve statutory matters, and set the direction for the second half of 2025.

New Members Welcomed

We were pleased to welcome three new members to our network:

  • Global Gender-Smart Fund (GGSF) as a Full Member

Strategic Review & Implementation Updates

Christoph Pausch and Daniel Rozas presented a follow-up on the 2024 mid-term evaluation, commissioned by the Luxembourg government. The evaluation recognised the Secretariat’s strong performance, while recommending:

  • A more data-driven approach

  • Adoption of a new CRM system

  • Improved organisational structure

  • Reprioritisation of activities based on user personas

  • A rebranding of e-MFP’s public-facing elements, particularly the European Microfinance Week (EMW) and European Microfinance Award (in consultation with the co-organisers), while retaining the e-MFP name.

Daniel Rozas, engaged to oversee the implementation, reported steady progress on these recommendations. Updates include:

  • Roll-out of a new CRM system

  • Launch of a rebranding process

  • Internal restructuring of workflows and conference platforms

  • Strategic refocusing of Action Groups

Action Group Highlights

Several Action Groups are pushing forward with new initiatives:

  • Green Inclusive and Climate Smart Finance AG: Organising an investor-MFI matchmaking session at the XI Central American and Caribbean Microfinance Conference and enhancing the green library/map

  • Gender Lens Investing AG: Launching a 2025–2026 work plan with a new resource portal and internal knowledge stream

  • WASH AG: MSC has been retained as consultant to implement field testing of WASH indicators in three organisations, with a programme of webinars, blogs and case studies to complement this research.

Events and Outreach

e-MFP’s mid-year outreach was marked by a series of well-received Offsite Sessions:

  • A joint event in London with the Financial Inclusion Forum UK

  • Three online sessions supporting European Microfinance Award (EMA) applicants

  • A webinar with member Barrier-Free Finance Initiative (BFFI) on disability-inclusive financial services

Deepening Partnerships & Advocacy

e-MFP continued to strengthen its strategic relationships:

  • Intensified collaborations with Cerise/SPTF, InFiNe, LSFI, LHoFT, and others

  • Formed a strategic partnership with the Microinsurance Network for the 2025 EMA

  • e-MFP together with Barrier-Free Finance Initiative (BFFI), Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), Humanity & Inclusion (HI), Grameen Foundation and the World Food Programme (WFP) made a joint commitment to advance the financial inclusion of persons with disabilities during the Global Disability Summit (GDS)

  • Increased advocacy at the EU level to promote the international and social dimensions of sustainable finance regulation

Royal Visit

A special highlight of the year so far was the visit of H.R.H. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa to the House of Microfinance on 30th April, during which we had the opportunity to thank her for especially her longstanding support and engagement with the European Microfinance Award.

What’s Next in 2025

As we look to the second half of the year, e-MFP will focus on:
