The e-MFP and Aqua for All-led WASH Action Group (WASH AG) is advancing critical work to unlock finance for water, sanitation, and hygiene by building the evidence base needed to attract investment at scale. This session will present the collated insights (and launch a publication) from the latest phase of the AG’s work - field-testing and refining, at four partner institutions, a set of impact indicators which are designed to measure outcomes and strengthen accountability in WASH finance.
Since the inception of the AG, this has been a key step towards an overarching goal: the development of a standardised WASH Indicator Framework that can, in combination with one or more platforms for data collection and analysis, be used by impact investors, financial service providers, and other WASH actors. The Framework offers a centralised way to analyse WASH projects across financial, social, climate, and service quality. It has the potential to strengthen reporting practices, improve investment decision-making, and help unlock greater flows of capital into a critically underfunded sector. Following extensive consultation, testing, and refinement with partners across multiple countries, e-MFP, Aqua for All and our consultants Microsave Consulting (MSC) are pleased to present the results and and publish a report, marking the transition from pilot phase to sector-wide engagement, presenting the finalised framework and discussing its intended use, future integration into data platforms, and role in strengthening WASH impact and investment cases.
